The Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles (MOCA) is rightfully considered one of the best art collections in the States. The museum is entirely dedicated to contemporary art - there are both permanent exhibitions of painting, sculpture, graphics and applied art, as well as temporary exhibitions, many of which become high-profile events in the cultural life of the country.

A Little History

The museum was founded in 1979 and collects and exhibits works by contemporary artists created after 1940. MOCA's collections number more than 5,000 exhibits, and this number is constantly growing - for example, today the museum occupies three separate buildings - MOCA Grand Avenue itself, Geffen Contemporary and Pacific Design Center. The style of the works presented is everything that falls under the definition of “contemporary art” - pop art, expressive abstract art, visual art, photography.

Events

In addition to regular exhibitions, MOCA hosts art lectures, educational programs; You can also book a guided tour of the museum's halls or learn more about the history of modern art in the extensive library of more than 20 thousand volumes.
