City Hall of Los Angeles

City Hall is one of the tallest buildings in California. The white, 32-story, 138-meter-tall skyscraper stands in the heart of the city and today houses Los Angeles City Hall. According to one version, the building was built on the model of the Mausoleum of Mausolus in Halicarnassus, which is more than 2000 years old. Earthquakes often occur in Los Angeles, so the foundation of the skyscraper has rubber cushions that soften tremors and withstand vibrations of up to 8 points.

What to See

On the 27th floor of City Hall there is an observation deck, and in front of it there is a meeting room with a high ceiling, where the city mayor holds meetings. Here on the table there is a book of reviews and suggestions, where anyone can share their impressions.

City Hall is one of the most recognizable buildings in Los Angeles and is featured on local police badges.

The interiors of the tower halls are interesting with ancient columns and antique chandeliers. In the lobby on the 26th floor you can see a gallery of portraits of all the former mayors of the city, starting from 1850 - 41 in total. On the square in front of the city hall there is a sign listing all the sister cities and the distances to them, among which is St. Petersburg.

You can visit the City Hall, including the observation deck, for free; you only need a passport or any other identification document.
