Stahl House is one of the most iconic architectural projects in Los Angeles. In the 50s In the 20th century, the couple Buck and Carlotta Stahl purchased a plot of land on the slope of the Hollywood Hills for huge money at that time - 13.5 thousand USD. Few people believed that something worthwhile could be built there, but the head of the family made the right decision with the purchase. Work began in May 1959 and ended a year later.
At first, no one paid attention to the new building, but one day photographer Julius Shulman took his legendary photograph, after which both the house and its owners became famous throughout the city. The photograph showed two ladies in a living room overlooking Los Angeles at night. This shot was reprinted by all newspapers and magazines - it became a symbol of the American dream, and the house turned into a film set for fashion magazines, advertising and cinema.
The secret of success lies not only in the skill of the photographer, but also in the innovative minimalist design of the building. The L-shaped house wraps around the pool and has glass walls, so you can enjoy panoramic views of the city from almost everywhere. In addition, the pool is located right next to the cliff.
Stahl's widow Carlotta has repeatedly received offers to sell the house, the highest price being 15 million USD. However, she always said that the house was priceless and she had no plans to sell it. Today, photo and video shoots and excursions are still held here.
