Where else to see celebrities in all their glory, if not in the most cinematic city on the globe, Hollywood! That's why Madame Tussauds Wax Museum in this upscale Los Angeles neighborhood attracts more visitors each year than its big brother in London. Movie stars of all eras and styles, popular movie scenes, Westerns, thrillers and the Golden Age of Hollywood, as well as many interesting events await tourists at this beloved museum.

How to Get There

Madame Tussauds Wax Museum is located next door to Grauman's Chinese Theater on the corner of Hollywood Boulevard and Orange Drive. It's easy to get here by taxi or rented car; the latter can be left in the museum parking lot for 13 USD. The metro is also available to tourists; the nearest red line station is Hollywood/Highland.

On Friday and Saturday, the metro operates until 2 a.m., so you can stand in an embrace with your idol for much longer than usual.

What to See

Exact life-size replicas of celebrities are the main subject of the museum's exhibition. Traditionally called wax (as a tribute to the history of Madame Tussauds), in reality they are made of modern plastic polymers that allow one to achieve one hundred percent similarity. The exhibition is divided into several thematic blocks. In the Hollywood icons section, you can stand next to Elvis Presley, Clark Gable, Marlene Dietrich, Vivien Leigh and other stars of the golden era of cinema. The Movie Characters section features Whitney Houston in her famous role in Bodyguard, ET's touching alien, and Hugh Jackman as Wolverine from Men in Black. Television stars for the most part are not of particular interest to us, since American shows, with rare exceptions, were not broadcast on Russian television.

At the museum, you can sit at a table with Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's and climb on a camel led by Peter O'Toole to feel like Lawrence of Arabia.

Film Celebrities is the most visited complex of halls in the museum, where you can see almost all famous film actors, from Salma Hayek and Johnny Depp to Jennifer Lopez and Denzel Washington. It’s definitely worth a look at the inhabitants of the musical Olympus: Rihanna and Lady Gaga, two Justins - Bieber and Timberlake and many, many other singers. Finally, sports fans will be delighted by the opportunity to hug David Beckham.

Also in the halls of the museum, famous scenes from films are recreated. Here you can sit at a table with Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's, climb on a camel led by Peter O'Toole and feel like Lawrence of Arabia, and also try on the role of Cleopatra and sit on an Egyptian bed under the close attention of Richard Burton.

By joining the popular “Behind the Scenes of Madame Tussauds” tour, you can learn everything about the idea of wax copies, which originated in the brilliant mind of Madame Tussauds more than 200 years ago, and modern technologies for making mannequins.
